First impressions of the OVICX Q2S Treadmill

With a price tag just shy of £600, the OVICX falls into the middle bracket of the at-home treadmill market.

It scores highly on the essentials you need from a good quality treadmill, such as really good build quality, comfortable running experience and an easy to use LCD display, although it does fall down slightly on the more advanced performance features, which more experienced runners may be looking for.

Quick and easy to assemble, along with its compact dimensions, lightweight design and the ability to fold for storage, make this treadmill ideal for those who just want an easy-to-use running experience in their own home.

The Bluetooth connectivity to the FitShow app is a real bonus and overall, the OVICX Q2S is an eye catching, and well put together treadmill.

Setup:

From start to finish, assembly took me roughly around 45 minutes to an hour (two of us).

Despite being relatively lightweight in comparison to competitor models on the market at only 43kg, I would still recommend having a second pair of hands in order to speed up the process and to help with moving the treadmill.

The instructions are fairly easy to use and come with a standard step-by-step guide.

In the box was the following: Treadmill, Safety Lock, Silicone Oil, Wrench, Power Cable, Mobile Phone Holder, Mobile Phone Silicone Sticker and a user Manual.

What you have once assembled is a sturdy and reliable piece of equipment. The OVICX Q2S is designed for ease of use, where if you’re not using the treadmill, it can easily fold for storage, which is ideal if you are slightly tight on space.

With folded dimensions of 165cm x 65cm x 31cm (L x W x H) and non-folded dimensions of 165cm x 65cm x 114cm (L x W x H) this Q2S should be suitable for a wide variety of homes.

The folding mechanism is also really easy to use, whereby with a simple touch on either side of the portable treadmill and a flick underneath each arm, the Q2S+ folding treadmill folds flat in under 20 seconds. Easy and safe.

In terms of look, the bright silver colour (although they call it grey), is a bit like marmite for many.

Personally, I don’t mind it and feel it actually makes the Q2S stand out with a bright and sleek design, although others have disagreed with this.

Performance:

One of the main things I really like about the Q2S is the wide running surface. Quite often on smaller, more compact treadmills is that the running belt can feel a little cramped. With a 43cm wide running belt on the Q2S, you shouldn’t have this problem.

This feel of quality assurance and comfortable running experience is again present in the overall design, look and feel of the treadmill when in-use.

As previously mentioned, this treadmill is quite light weight at 43kgs, however it still feels strong and durable when running as is suitable for a generous max user weight of 120kgs.

Whilst the base doesn’t have adjustable levellers, it does have robust anti-slip rubber pads that provide maximum traction and stability.

Also, the patented Silkworm Shock Absorbers decrease the impact on your joints, whilst minimising noise- which is ideal for those who like to run long distances and for those in multiple occupancy households.

Features:

One feature that really made the OVICX Q2S Folding Portable Treadmill really stand out for me was how it doesn’t have the traditional dashboard of a treadmill. Instead, it has a really easy-to-use and read LED monitor, that tracks workout data such as time, speed, distance, calories and heart rate.

It also features a few soft-touch navigation buttons, which make changing workout settings quick and easy to do, and the smarter speed control means you can seamlessly switch from full speed to a 4 km/h walk, and back again with a single tap of the interval icon on the LED display.

Very fancy! There is also an ipad and mobile phone holder too.

This is ideal if you want to mix up your running workouts with interval training, something that is slightly more cumbersome to do on other treadmills.

One downside to this treadmill is that it doesn’t come with any in-built workout programmes, however what it can do is allow Bluetooth connectivity to the FitShow app.

On the FitShow app, you get access to a fantastic fitness community, where you can track historical exercise data, compete with friends, access exclusive fitness programmes and get useful exercise and diet tips.

In my opinion to get the most out of the treadmill, I would highly recommend utilising this feature. If you would prefer not to use this feature, the Q2S does lack slightly on the versatility side of things.

With a decent enough max user speed 14km/h, the lack of incline adjustments may limit the user’s workout choices and may not be suitable for those who are looking for a treadmill to really provide a much wider workout selection.

So just bear in mind that this may be more appealing to the beginner to intermediate runner, who are just looking for a more basic running experience.

How does the OVICX Q2S compare to the Pro Fitness T2000?

Despite the similar price tags, these two treadmills are quite different in their product offering. The Pro Fitness T2000 Treadmill is a much heavier, bulkier and more powerful treadmill. Weighing in 21KG heavier and over 20cm wider than the Q2S, the size difference is quite telling.

By contrast the Q2S’s compact design, makes it much easier to fold and move around from one place to the other.

There isn’t necessarily a benefit to either treadmill, it will mainly come down to your preference and how much room you have available in your home.

What you do get with the Pro Fitness T2000 is slightly more features, with a higher max speed at 18km/h, 15 levels of incline and 30 user programmes, which provide the user with a lot more choice.

Where the Q2S has the upper hand is through the better and more comfortable running experience quality, fantastic LCD display and the Bluetooth connectivity to the FitShow app.

Both treadmills are excellent value for money in terms of what you are getting, and the main thing to consider when purchasing a treadmill is deciding on the key things you want out of a treadmill.

Is it a fuss-free solution that is lightweight, compact and can be folded away? Or do you not mind having something heavier and bulkier but provides higher performance features? Some key questions to think about!

Final thoughts on the OVICX Q2S Treadmill

It’s certainly not the cheapest on the market and the slightly limited performance features such as lack of incline are drawbacks to the Q2S, however in terms of design, build quality and running experience, the Q2S scores highly.

That being said, the main difference for me is the Bluetooth connectivity to the FitShow app. I really like this feature and having that community and competitive feel really helped boost my motivation to get on the treadmill.

If you aren’t going to use the FitShow app, I would recommend going for a treadmill with slightly more performance features available.

However, if you think this is something that would appeal to you, then the Q2S might be right up your street, especially if you want to fold it away and forget about it when you’re not exercising!
