Overview

The Dynamax RunningPad Folding Treadmill is a compact and lightweight, yet sturdy and well-built treadmill. As the name indicates, it’s a folding treadmill – making it the perfect exercise machine for people who need to use their space economically.

The ability to quickly and easily put it away also makes it excellent for parents of small children, or if you haven’t got loads of space in your home. In fact, the Dynamax prides itself on being able to fold and roll away into the smallest of spaces- even under the sofa!

Fully motorised yet remarkably silent, the Dynamax RunningPad is a pleasure to use for both power-walks and light to medium jogs.

With a built-in LED display and Bluetooth pairing capabilities, this treadmill provides all the live exercise information you need to monitor your workout.

Lightweight yet robust, and most importantly folding and portable, the RunningPad provides many of the advantages of bulkier, stationary treadmills, but in a compact package. If mobility and compactness are what you’re looking for, then the Dynamax RunningPad is the treadmill for you.
And did we mention, it looks very fancy too…!

Key Features

The Dynamax RunningPad’s most notable feature is it being a folding treadmill. Without the need for any tools you can quickly and easily set it up when it first arrives, and fold and put it away upon subsequent uses.

This makes it ideal for students and others living in small homes, as it can be easily stored under a bed or in a wardrobe while not in use.

Unlike other folding treadmills, the RunningPad is fully motorised. Among its handiest features are the innovative, dynamic speed controls: Simply move forward on the deck to accelerate, and backward to decelerate (of course, the RunningPad comes with an auto-stop safety system, in case you drift too far back).

There is also a handheld remote control included, so you can adjust your speed with the touch of a button.

Build Quality

Although lightweight, the Dynamax RunningPad is actually quite sturdy.

It can handle users weighing up to 110 kg, and feels steady and perfectly safe to walk and run on. Additionally, even at full speed it is relatively silent – people in the next room won’t hear it running. The treadmill weighs 38 kg, and when folded it measures 16x72x98 cm – less than half a squared metre.

Display and Connectivity

Another feature of the RunningPad that’s not always found in folding treadmills is the built-in LED mirage display.

There you can access a range of live workout information, including run time, step count, calories burned, distance covered, and speed. All this information and more can also be found on the matching app, enabling you to pair your phone with the treadmill via Bluetooth. And there’s a holder to pop your phone/tablet into as well.

You can see the full manual here.

How does the Dynamax RunningPad Folding Treadmill compare with the Opti Easy Fold Treadmill?

Other treadmills at this price point tend to be larger and heavier. As such they can house a larger motor, which enables them to reach higher speeds. If you’re looking for an intensive exercise you might want to consider those alternatives.

But that’s no good if you have limited speace, or aren’t really looking for fast running.

So we looked at the Opti folding treadmill, which although is slightly cheaper than the Dynamax, has similar features.

Both treadmills have comparable capabilities, with the console feedback, 1hp motor size, Bluetooth connectivity and max user weight etc.

The key differences are the higher speeds and the 16 user programmes you get with the Opti Easy Fold Treadmill which gives this the edge on workouts vs the Dynamax RunningPad.

However, the Opti treadmill doesn’t fold as compactly as the Dynamax and also doesn’t have the connected app, and quite frankly is much more pleasing to the eye compared to the Opti!

If you’ve got some space to play with, then it’s definitely worth taking a closer look at the Opti Easy Fold Treadmill here.

While slower, and somewhat limited in its functionality compared to the more elaborate, stationary models, the RunningPad still an excellent product. For a motorised treadmill, it is practically unmatched in terms of compactness and portability.

Pros

  • No assembly required – easy to set up and get running.
  • Folds easily into a space of less than 0.5 m2.
  • Built-in wheels for easy transportation.
  • Lightweight but sturdy, capable of handling up to 110 kg.
  • Motorised yet quiet, goes up to 9 kph (which is up to 5.6mph).
  • Dynamic speed control – move forward on the deck to accelerate, backward to decelerate.
  • LED display with a “mirage console”.
  • Bluetooth connectivity and app for live workout feedback.
  • Tablet docking station.
  • 2-year manufacturer’s guarantee.

Cons

  • Does not allow high running speeds.
  • Does not incline.
  • Wheels don’t work well on carpets, limiting its portability.
  • Maximum user weight of 17st (110kgs).

Final word

Lightweight, compact, and folding on one hand, but sturdy, reliable, and practical on the other, the Dynamax RunningPad Folding Treadmill provides the best of both worlds.

This reasonably-priced treadmill will help you get all the exercise you need, without taking up a square centimetre of unnecessary space.

It probably won’t prepare you for the Olympics, but if you’re trying to add an element of light exercise to your life without breaking the bank or cluttering up your house, then the Dynamax RunningPad is the treadmill you’re looking for!
