The Lowdown

Walking treadmills are becoming increasingly popular, and we can see why! With working from home becoming more popular than ever, and storage space for lots of people becoming rather limited, we are turning to home fitness equipment that is efficient on space, and on energy bills!

The MoveLight walking treadmill is JTX Fitness’s newest piece of equipment. It is a compact walking pad, suitable for walking and light jogging, so whether you want to get your steps in on a Teams call or in front of Coronation Street, the quiet 1HP motor and remote-controlled settings will get your heart rate pumping.

First Impressions

The JTX MoveLight walking treadmill is the definition of easy exercise- to get started all you have to do is unpack it and plug it in! It has a sleek and compact feel as soon as you take it out of the box with its simple and lightweight black design.

Despite the compact dimensions, the Movelight has a relatively generous running area of L122 x W45cm, but the floor-to-deck height is a mere 12.9cm, which is why it feels smaller and can fit into most tight spaces to store away when not using it.

It is motorised, so while it’s not ideal it has to be plugged in, it does mean the treadmill has more power- and the 1HP motor is super quiet, so you really can exercise and work at the same time!

Pros

  • Motorised with remote control
  • Compact design
  • 4 training modes
  • Lightweight with wheels
  • 2-year in-home warranty

Cons

  • Max user weight 15.7 stone (100kg)
  • Not suitable for sprinting (6kph max speed)

JTX MoveLight: Walking Treadmill Review

Set-Up:

Not much to say here! Probably the easiest treadmill we have ever set up! The box arrived and measured L153 x W14.5 x H70cm and didn’t feel too heavy at 35.5kg (about 5.8 stone)- one of us managed to carry it into the lounge with ease.

It does need to be plugged in to work and the cable is just over 1m long, so you’ll need to think about where the best place to use your MoveLight will be.

It’s also worth mentioning that the max user weight from JTX is 100kgs which is 15.7 stone- so this might not be suitable and safe for anyone who is heavier than that.

Performance:

First of all, it’s worth pointing out that this isn’t a running treadmill- entry-level running treadmills go up to around 10mph, but this MoveLight has a maximum speed of 6kph, and the most exertion will be at a light jogging speed. But the MoveLight isn’t about running, it’s about getting those steps up and being more active and fitting in with your lifestyle when nipping out to the gym or going for a walk might not be an option.

As we mentioned, this is a motorised treadmill with a 1HP DC motor. The treadmill goes up in speed increments of 0.5kph, so you can start slow and find the walking pace that’s right for you. Then, when you’re ready you can have more of a power walk/jog that would be 5-6kph.

There are also 4 training modes with the Movelight that you can select by pressing TIME on the remote control:

  • Training Mode 1: Normal counting (Time/distance/calories increasing)
  • Training Mode 2: Time countdown (Range is 5-99mins to select)
  • Training Mode 3: Calories countdown (Range is 20-9999cal to select)
  • Training Mode 4: Distance countdown (Range 1-99km to select)

Also, as you’d expect, to track your progress you can use the treadmill display to track distance, time, calories, speed and number of steps.

And all of the options and settings on this JTX MoveLight can be adjusted using the handy remote control…

Comfort:

Let’s talk about the features that the MoveLight has which make your workout that bit more enjoyable! There is an 8-piece elastic cushioned running deck which means the workout is safe on your joints and low-impact. It also makes your workout very quiet!

There is a low floor-to-deck height, which is not only great for storage but also makes it super easy to step on and off the MoveLight.

And the large LED display means you won’t be squinting down at the floor trying to guess the numbers- we found it clear and simple to read.

When should I use a walking treadmill?

Lots of people use walking treadmills now. For many, it’s a way to get your steps in when you’re sitting at a desk working from home.

For others, it might not be convenient to leave the house or you might not want to go for a walk in unpredictable British weather! We are becoming more aware of the importance of exercise in our daily lives, and the JTX MoveLight is a way to keep moving even when you have the busiest of schedules!

Things we really liked:

The compact dimensions of the MoveLight walking treadmill means that you can store it under your bed or sofa, or out of the way when you don’t need it! It also has wheels so you can easily move it to where you need it.

It’s super quiet, so you can actually have a walking meeting at home, or watch the telly without disturbing what you’re focusing on.

JTX Fitness are well-known for its excellent customer service. They offer a 2-year in-home warranty and a 28-day money-back guarantee. So you always have peace of mind.

Final thoughts on the JTX MoveLight: Walking Treadmill

Part of me feels like everyone should have a MoveLight in their lives, as we could all do with getting some more steps in!

As with most JTX products we have reviewed, this is sturdy, simple to use, space-saving and looks quite nice too!

It’s not the cheapest walking treadmill on the market and once the introductory offer period is over, the RRP is at the £499 mark. But this is a quality piece of equipment, and if you’re looking to seriously get your steps up, is definitely worth thinking about.
