The Lowdown

This is a mid-range treadmill designed to appeal to the beginner to intermediate runner, but if you are looking for all the bells and whistles, this treadmill might not be for you.

Its price tag looks appealing and JTX Fitness is known for its quality, so let’s take a look if it lives up to expectations.

First Impressions

JTX Fitness has established quite a reputation over the years for building stylish at-home treadmills, which outperform, in my opinion, their more than reasonable price tag. The JTX Slimline: Flat Fold Away Treadmill is another to add to this list.

The all-black design looks fantastic and really brings that gym-quality feel to the comfort of your own home. One of the treadmills’ big advantages over other bulkier machines is just how compact it is. With no assembly required, yes you read that correctly, simply un-box and get running.

With a max speed of 16km/h, this treadmill will appeal to beginners and intermediates and the digital display with 40 programmes offers decent variety, as well as being easy to use. The running deck, whilst not as big as others on the market, is comfortable to use and the 1.75HP motor provides a smooth running experience. All this for under £500. You can’t really go wrong.

  • 40 programmes
  • No assembly required
  • Large running deck

JTX Slimline: Flat Fold Away Treadmill Review

The set up of this treadmill is easy to review. Quite simply there is none. The JTX slim-line comes ready-assembled in the box, which if you are like me and dislike having to faff around with screws and screwdrivers, then is a welcomed relief. A huge tick from me.

Quite often, treadmills can be a trade-off between heaviness and build quality, where typically the higher the build quality, the higher the kilograms. So when I saw the weight listed as 43kg (6.7 stone), I was slightly apprehensive that this model may be a bit lightweight.

I was therefore pleasantly surprised that despite tipping the scales on the lighter end, it still produces a strong and sturdy frame. Whilst not as luxurious as commercial quality machines, the overall design not only looks great but performs great too.

The JTX Slimline is designed to be compact, where you can easily fold and unfold it when needed. Folded dimensions measure 73(w) x 158(I) x 26.5(h)cm and unfolded dimensions measure 70(w) x 152(I) x 125(h)cm, which is a relatively small footprint compared to other competitors on the market. This makes it ideal for those slightly short on space or those who want versatility from their gym equipment.

With a price tag of under £500, I wasn’t expecting this treadmill to come with all the bells and whistles and whilst it does lack the higher performance features of more expensive machines, I was again pleasantly surprised by what it does offer. With a max speed of 16km/h, this can make even the seasoned runner work up quite a sweat.

It also has 40 different programs; 36 detailed pre-set workout programs, 3 user programs and a body fat function to calculate your BMI, which is enough to provide a decent variety for those who like to mix up their routines. One downside is the lack of incline options available to you, however, with it being so compact, there have to be some compromises somewhere.

The digital display is simple and easy to use, tracking all the key core metrics, such as distance, time, speed etc.

For the size and price of this treadmill, the 1.7fHP motor is a real bonus. This is a high-grade motor, allowing this compact treadmill to punch above its weight. This produces a smooth running experience and ensures the treadmill keeps up as long as you do.

The running deck measures 122x45cm, so not the biggest out there, but for those looking into high-performance training, I would recommend investing in a different treadmill, but for those looking for simplicity and efficiency, then the running deck works just fine.

Things we really liked:

From a slightly lazy point of view, the no set-up requirements were fantastic. The amount of hours I’ve spent fiddling around with instructions and various work tools doesn’t bare thinking about, so having this stage taken care of, was a welcome relief.

I also really liked just how easy it is to move around and store. Simply fold or unfold and move around on the transport wheels as and when desired.

The 2-year warranty also provides peace of mind.

Final thoughts on the JTX Slimline: Flat Fold Away Treadmill

A really good piece of at-home gym kit. Whilst lacking in a more diverse range of performance features, in my view, the price tag is more than reasonable for what you get in return. The build quality is great and overall, the compact nature only enhances this treadmill, rather than hinders it. This a very good option for those looking to invest in an at-home treadmill and increase those steps!

The compact design really does make it ideal for those looking for a fuss-free at-home workout solution.
