The Lowdown

Get those arms and legs pumping with the Reebok Jet 300. If you have the patience to put it together, then you can get sweating in no time and easily select your workout with the modern console. But, is it the best Reebok cross trainer to buy for the money? We take a look…

First Impressions

The Reebok Jet 300 cross trainer is an average looking piece of equipment, and all-black will suit any room it goes into. One thing that isn’t average is the lovely big console that looks very nice & snazzy, is super intuitive and will get you pumped in no time at all.

The Reebok Jet 300 comes with a good range of programmes and tension levels to suit beginners and intermediates alike, but at nearly £600, is fairly pricey and dipping into the advanced cross trainer price bracket.

Pros

  • Large, intuitive display console
  • 21 programmes, 32 resistance levels
  • Good 15-inch stride length
  • 2 year Reebok guarantee
  • Can be charged overnight

Cons

  • A light-ish 6kg flywheel
  • Took a while to set up
  • Can be noisy when used

Reebok Jet 300 Electronic Cross Trainer Review

Set-Up:

OK, so I’m not going to sugarcoat this… The box arrived flat packed as expected and weighed about 8 stone (so not too heavy), but when I opened it, with all the parts and the picture only manual staring back at me, I felt a little overwhelmed!

I got my friend to help me set it up, and between us took about 3 hours. It wasn’t that it was hard to put together, just that there are lots of different parts, nuts, bolts spacers etc so having a little bit of patience (and a lot of coffee) should do the trick. There are also some fiddly bits, like the plastic coverings that go over the nuts. They look nice, yes, but were a bit of a pain to assemble!

All of the tools and the parts were included in my package, but I did end up using some of my own tools out of the garage that seemed a little more robust.

The dimensions of the Reebok Jet 300 cross trainer are H171 x W68 x, D137cm, and even though there are wheels for you to move around, it’s best to set up where you will use it. You also need to be able to plug it into a plug socket, so bear that in mind too.

After a few days of use, my cross trainer did start squeaking a bit, and after doing some research have found that it can be a common problem. I put on some WD40 and tightened some nuts and bolts and all was fine again!

Check all the parts match the inventory manual before you start, and don’t worry, there is a 2 year Reebok warranty if you had any problems with the cross-trainer.

Performance:

One thing that never fails with Reebok gym equipment is its ability to give you a varied workout and help you hit your desired goals, and the Reebok 300 is no different. There are 21 programmes built into the console, whether you are a beginner and want to use target settings like time, power/watts etc, or if you want to create your own workout, you have the tools to do this and get sweating.

The 32 levels of tension on the electronic resistance system mean that you can really push yourself, and the intensity of the workout will either automatically change based on what programme you have selected, or you can adjust yourself at the touch of a console button.

As expected on most machines nowadays, you can also monitor your progress (and heart rate) using pulse sensors.

What I would say is the flywheel could be heavier, at 6kgs is quite light and compared to the Reebok GX40s and ZJET 460 are a weightier 9kgs and in a similar price range to the Jet 300.

Like everything Reebok, the Jet 300 is sturdy and robust, and has a lovely screen to track progress.

Performance:

How does the bike perform and are you going to get a good workout…? There is a lot of kit in the console that will allow you to manage your goals and track your performance easily.

Like most bikes in this price range, you can get feedback on all the usual metrics like time, speed, distance (Km and miles), calories, pulse (using the sensors on the handlebars) etc. You can also calculate body fat, something extra to add to the mix. And I was pleasantly surprised because when comparing lots of the data with my Smart Watch, it was very similar (which doesn’t often happen with bikes in this price bracket).

There are also 5 heart rate settings that allow you to really personalise that workout and set the goals specific to you- for example, if you wanted to do a HITT workout and needed your heart rate in a specific zone to improve performance, you can set that.

The Console:

I was super impressed with this, so thought it deserved its own section, plus I feel like it’s a real selling point for the Reebok Jet 300 cross-trainer.

The console is a large LCD digital display unit that is clear to see and easy to navigate. It has all the feedback you’d expect from a piece of gym equipment like speed, time, distance, calories, watts and pulse (using the side hand sensors). It also has its own buttons to track and measure body fat, recovery rates and other metrics which really make your workout personalised to you.

The quality of the display is excellent and not blurry at all. It looks slick like you’ve got an iPad attached to the machine, which makes it look expensive. The downside is that there isn’t anywhere you’d be able to watch an iPad as there aren’t any holders, unlike some other similar cross trainers in this price range.

Things we really liked:

The Jet 300 has a good stride length of 15 inches which means it can be used comfortably by a wide range of heights.

We love the way you can measure and track your body fat by the touch of a button. So you can really see your progress and motivate yourself.

The Jet 300 cross trainer does need to be plugged into the mains to charge the console, but it doesn’t need to be plugged in all the time- so you could do it when not in use. Something that might be helpful to know when thinking about where to put it!

Final thoughts on the Reebok Jet 300 Electronic Cross Trainer

Like everything Reebok, the Jet 300 is sturdy and robust, and has a lovely screen to track progress. The downside is that it can take a little time to set up, but once done, it is a lovely piece of equipment.

In terms of money, my opinion is that for a similar price, the likes of the Reebok ZJET 460 and GX40s cross trainers are just as good, if not better if you’re looking to spend around the £500 mark.
