The Lowdown
Let’s talk about a new-ish addition to the JTX equipment range- the JTX Tri-Fit cross trainer. Winning the 2022 Runner’s World awards for best cross trainer for multiple users and runners, we take a look to see if all the hype is justified.
First Impressions
Weighing in at nearly 11 stone, straight out of the box you can see this is a robust piece of kit. It has a nice and sleek look and the display console looks like something you’d expect to see in a gym.
The 17kg flywheel is hidden well, and with 16 levels of electromagnetic resistance, 19 console programs, stride adjustment and an incline control system, you won’t get bored of this JTX cross trainer!
It also has some added extras which are a nice touch on this cross trainer, such as the multi-grip handlebars, built-in speakers, and also Bluetooth connectivity with apps like Kinomap, so you can add variety, whatever your workout goals.
Pros
- Heavy flywheel
- Stride adjustment 16-20 inches
- Can change incline settings
- 19 workout programmes
- Suitable for all heights
Cons
- Assembly can be fiddly
- No storage option
JTX Tri-Fit: Incline Cross Trainer Review
Set-Up:
The cross trainer came with no fuss and next day delivery, which was the first bonus. The equipment came in one big box (measuring L134 x W73 x H38cm) and was quite heavy (took two of us to carry it in). We decided to set it up in the spare room upstairs, so assembled in there.
It took two of us just under an hour to put it together. I’d suggest digesting the manual and instructions first, as there is a clear process to follow! The main frame and upright post come together and assembled and you then have to connect the front and back stabilisers, handlebars, pedals and console.
The painful bits are making sure the wires in the handlebar posts are connected correctly and feed through to the console, and also the nice features like the adjustable incline settings took us a little time to set up. All in all though, some fiddly bits, but nothing we couldn’t handle!
For reference, when fully assembled, the JTX Tri-Fit: Incline Cross Trainer measures L153 x W75 x H173cm. It’s quite big so make sure you use it in a room with some more space. It does have transport wheels, but I wouldn’t say you’d move the cross trainer around without a second pair of hands.
Performance:
The reason this cross trainer has won awards must be mostly down to the variety that is packed into this machine.
Let’s start with the fact it’s quite big and heavy, which definitely gives the Tri-Fit a stable and robust feeling- almost commercial quality feels. It has a 17kg flywheel which is heavy for an at-home cross trainer. The 16 levels of electromagnetic resistance give you variety and challenge. All of these things provide a stable, smooth and silent workout.
The key selling points for me on this cross trainer are the adjustable stride length and incline control system. You can easily adjust stride length from 16-20 inches which will not only give you variety but is also adaptable if more than one person is using the cross trainer. There is also an incline control system which you can manually adjust which means you can change from a flat to an uphill motion. This is great because you can challenge different parts of the body based on different incline selections.
Performance-wise- what more could you need than a SMART console to track all your key workout metrics and the ability to easily select programmes? This JTX cross trainer has exactly that- 12 pre-set fitness programmes, and some added extras like heart rate/watt training and even a create-your-own!
The range of features on this Tri-Fit cross trainer means that as your performance improves, you can keep challenging yourself and hit those workout goals.
Stay Motivated:
Staying motivated is so important with at-home fitness equipment, and the JTX Tri-Fit does its best to do that! It has BlueTooth connectivity to a range of apps like Kinomap which means you can work out wherever your imagination wants to take you! It also auto-adjusts resistance, so you don’t have to do a thing!
Other nice touches are the built-in speakers to stay motivated with your favourite tunes, and also multi-grip handlebars to measure your pulse and to help you when you’re climbing up those hills.
Things we really liked:
Incline settings are really unusual on at-home cross trainers, so a fab feature!
Heavy max user weights and no height restrictions means this can be enjoyed by many, despite fitness ability.
Great JTX customer service and 2- year in home repair warranty.
Final thoughts on the JTX Slimline: Flat Fold Away Treadmill
A really good piece of at-home gym kit. Whilst lacking in a more diverse range of performance features, in my view, the price tag is more than reasonable for what you get in return. The build quality is great and overall, the compact nature only enhances this treadmill, rather than hinders it. This a very good option for those looking to invest in an at-home treadmill and increase those steps!
The compact design really does make it ideal for those looking for a fuss-free at-home workout solution.
