First impressions of the Dripex Cross Trainer

The Dripex Cross Trainer (2020 New Version) comes in at 102 x 55 x 156cm and weighs 32 kilograms.

This gloriously white, 2 in 1 Elliptical Exercise Machine comes with an adjustable seat, handlebars of sound quality (sturdy and spongy), an LCD monitor that tracks distance, time, speed and an estimation of calories burnt and offers a 12 inch stride length that guarantees a fluid, full body workout.

The appearance of the Dripex Cross Trainer in its heavenly white form is sure to leave your body feeling anything but, depending on which of the 16 adjustable magnetic, resistance levels you choose from that is!

Quiet technology

However, don’t let that put you off, for the Dripex’s silent mechanism means you can also get your body moving whilst watching your favourite shows undisturbed whether that’s on the TV or from your phone or tablet, which you can easily fit into the Dripex’s phone holder.

So whether you’re looking for an exercise bike or a cross trainer, worry no more as you can vary your workout goals with both in this 2-in-1 machine.

And it also comes in black or white, so it can fit in with whatever your home colour scheme is!

Review of the Dripex Cross Trainer

Setup

The Dripex Cross Trainer arrived extremely well-packed, with large polystyrene boxes protecting the main unit and all additional parts. The machine and all additional parts were top quality, with not a scratch to be seen!

The instructions for set-up were clear and concise. So, unlike your average flat pack furniture, assembling the cross trainer was stress free! Set-up took around an hour, and I certainly took my time with it. Don’t forget to tighten the bolts once fully assembled, as I forgot to do that.

Once set up, the cross trainer is solid but light and is easily transportable, courtesy of the wheel at the front!

Cost Vs Quality

The Dripex Cross Trainer comes in at just under £400, which might seem quite dear upon first impressions, particularly when there are cheaper 2-in-1 machines available.

However, the quality of the Dripex will fill a gym-sized hold in your heart.

The positives certainly outweigh the negatives when it comes to the quality of the Dripex, but £380 is a large sum to pay for something that might not suit your build, particularly if you are taller or if the resistance levels are not got to maximise/allow you to hit your fitness goals. The max height is recommended at just over 6 feet, so check that it would be suitable for you first.

Features

The Dripex 2-in-1 Cross Trainer boasts a 10lb two-way flywheel and V-belt drive and along with its 12inch stride length, you’re guaranteed smooth movements for arms and legs.

For those who are used to professional gym equipment, it’s likely you’ll notice the difference in movement between this machine and the ones you find in the gym but not enough to impact on your performance, and will still allow you to hit your home workout goals.

Whilst not an exact replica of the cross trainers and bikes you’ll find in the gym, if you’re looking to keep fit at home or a pseudo-spin class, the Dripex fits the bill.

Pros

  • Affordable 2-in-1 machine
  • Easy to assemble
  • Fully adjustable seat
  • Anti-slip pedals to add stability
  • Solid and comfortable fixed handlebars
  • Can be easily moved around the house once built, courtesy of the transport wheels
  • Easy-to-read LCD screen with excellent features
  • Very quiet machine, almost undetectable
  • Smooth movement of arms and legs
  • No electricity needed, just a battery for the LCD screen

Cons

  • Magnet is quite slow on the adjustment
  • Seat could be higher and longer for taller individuals
  • No heart rate monitor
  • Maximum height recommendation is 74 inches (just over 6ft)

How does the Dripex Cross Trainer compare to the Reebok GX40s One?

Upon first impressions, there are quite a few differences between the Dripex Cross Trainer and the Reebok GX40s. Firstly, the Dripex is a 2-in1 machine, the Reebok is not.

The Dripex also doesn’t require any electricity, with only a battery needed for the LED screen, as opposed to the Reebok which needs to be plugged into the mains. As a result, the positioning of the Reebok is best suited against the wall to avoid damage to the socket.

In terms of performance, the Dripex certainly takes the win in terms of noise and sturdiness.

You can comfortably watch a television programme or listen to a podcast whilst striding on the Dripex, as opposed to the Reebok GX40s which can begin to squeak and is known to move during use.

However, in terms of stride length the GX40s offers an extra 3 inches, coming in at a 15-inch stride length and 12 programmes in total making it more compatible with machines found in your gym.

Both machines offer LED screens, with the Reebok offering slightly more console feedback (Speed, Time, Distance, Calories, Pulse, Watts, RPM) and both machines offer easy transport around the home.

And the biggest difference, is the Reebok GX40s is about £50 more expensive than the Dripex Cross Trainer 2-in-1 machine!

If you still aren’t sure about what cross trainer is best, why not read a little more about the Reebok GX40s Cross Trainer?

Final thoughts on the Dripex Cross Trainer

If you’re looking to keep fit at home, the Dripex Cross Trainer certainly fits the bill. The 2-in-1 option allows you to shake up your workouts, from cycling to striding, and in this current Groundhog Day state, who couldn’t do with a little shaking up of their daily routine?!

And it’s perfect if you’re short on space at home as you’re getting two machines for the price (and space) of one!

The Dripex Cross Trainer’s compact size, easy transportability, 16 levels of resistance and it’s no fuss battery operation makes it the perfect addition to your home-gym.
