The Lowdown

Cross trainers are great additions to any home gym, although making sure you’re getting value for money is essential, especially when price points can easily rise into the high hundreds and thousands. Reebok targets the mid to cheap end of the market with the ZJET 460 Bluetooth Cross Trainer.

With a sleek and stylish design, the ZJET 460 looks great, but does it match its look with performance quality? We have a look…

First Impressions

Rebook usually delivers fuss-free, effective workout equipment at a reasonable price and the Rebook ZJET 460 Bluetooth Cross Trainer continues that trend. Whilst not having quite the commercial quality and feel that more expensive cross-trainers deliver, in terms of value for money, the ZJET 460 ticks the essential boxes.

£500 is still a fair chunk of change to fork out for a cross-trainer, however, where cheaper options are available, with its wide variety of programmes and workout options, it does give the ZJET 460 an edge over its less pricey rivals.

Pros

  • Large 9kg Flywheel
  • Stylish design
  • 19 different programmes
  • Easy to use console
  • Bluetooth compatibility

Cons

  • Fewer tension levels than other cross-trainers
  • Does move around slightly without mats underneath

Reebok ZJET 460 Bluetooth Cross Trainer Review

Set-Up:

The Reebok ZJET 460 Bluetooth Cross Trainer is fairly straightforward to put together, with easy to follow step-by-step instructions and should take on average 60 minutes, although this could be sped up if you had a second pair of hands available and some better tools than the ones provided.

Once built, the cross trainer weighs in at 54.5kg (about 8 and a half stone), with dimensions of H171cm x W66.5cm x D134cm, so make sure you have somewhere you can easily store and use it. Transportation wheels are provided to make moving it easier.
As part of ongoing maintenance, I would make sure to have a bottle of WD40 on hand, as the motion can start to feel a little sluggish after continued use and make sure you tighten up the nuts and bolts every now and again to keep the stride motion smooth.

One thing I do really like about Reebok Cross Trainers is the manufacturer’s 2-year parts and labour guarantee, which provides that peace of mind if you ever did have more serious mechanical issues with your cross-trainer.

Performance:

Now I must admit that when it comes to home gym equipment, I do like it to look good. For me, the Rebook ZJET 460 satisfies that criteria with its black and white criss-cross finish and overall looks sleek and stylish.

But, with looks, you also want substance and the 9kg flywheel produces a smooth striding motion, with comfortable food pads and overall produces relatively little noise. One potential downside is that with a 15-inch stride length, this cross trainer is better suited to those under 6 feet tall, otherwise, it could feel slightly limiting.

Being priced at the middle to the cheaper end of the market does have its drawbacks in terms of build quality. As the Reebok ZJET 460 weighs considerably less than a commercial machine, it can have a tendency to move around when in use, particularly on hard floors. My recommendation is to put a non-slip mat underneath when in use to prevent this from happening.

Features:

Whilst fairly plain, the 5.5inch console is clear and easy to use. It provides all the standard feedback such as speed, time, distance, calories, pulse and heart rate. It does also have Bluetooth connectivity with fitness apps if you are looking for more detailed feedback on your workouts, which is a nice added bonus feature.

The main selling point of the Reebok ZJET 460 Bluetooth cross trainer in my opinion is the versatility it provides. I for one very much enjoy following pre-set workouts and mixing up my routines. With 19 different programmes and 24 differing resistance levels, the options should appeal to a range of users and ability levels. Other cross trainers do offer more resistance levels, however, the max difficulty of the ZJET 460 should still be able to produce a sweat in the more experienced user.

Things we really liked:

We loved the 19 different programmes, allowing for a varied workout.

The 9kg flywheel produces a comfortable and smooth motion when in use

The overall design and finish for me is a real winner and the 15-inch stride length should suit most users.

Final thoughts on the Reebok ZJET 460 Bluetooth Cross Trainer

As a starter cross trainer, I would say you can’t go far wrong with the Reebok ZJET 460 Bluetooth cross-trainer. Whilst it may not have the superior build quality and all the bells and whistles of commercial machines, for the price level you are paying, you shouldn’t feel short-changed.
