First impressions of the NordicTrack S 25i Treadmill

The NordicTrack S25i Treadmill is new to the Exclusive Series range of the well-known fitness brand. This range prides itself on being powerful, yet sturdy in design, and the S25i is exactly that. With a 3.0CHP motor and all the SMART functions, this is definitely a piece of equipment for the more advanced fitness enthusiast.

Build quality

Straight out of the box you can tell this is gym quality- it’s robust and as such, quite heavy, and needed two of us to put it together. It has all the bells and whistles that you’d expect from a NordicTrack product, and with its iFit subscription, big motor and high max speeds is a treadmill for someone who wants high-level specs.

The NordicTrack S25i is very easy to use with lots of one-touch controls to change incline and resistance and when you don’t need it, can make use of the Spacesaver Design with EasyLift Assist.

An easy-to-use machine that’s sturdy and challenging, but to get the most out of the programmes, you will need to subscribe to iFit after the first month free, which might not be right for everyone.

NordicTrack NEW S 25i Treadmill Review

Setup:

The box arrived (dimensions were L193 x W76 x H31cm) and it needed two of us to carry up the stairs. We set it up in the room we were going to be using it in, which I’m glad we did as even though there are transportation wheels, it’s still quite heavy. Saying that set-up was easy and only took about an hour.

It needs to be close to a plug socket, so bear that in mind, but overall, getting the display and controls to work is straightforward and quite intuitive, so easy to get running straight away.

I did want to get my iFit membership set up too so I could start following the programmes, and it does say one month free, but I had to put in my debit card details to get the offer. And it did say it will auto-renew for £34 unless cancelled, so I will have to keep an eye on that. Also, if you are going to use iFit, then make sure you have a good WiFi connection in your room with the treadmill too!

Another thing to mention at this stage was, NordicTrack does offer a good warranty, but you must register the product within 28 days- so I did it straight away!

Performance

This is where NordicTrack treadmills excel- in the performance department, The S25i treadmill has a 3.0 CHP (continuous horsepower) motor, which is big for an at-home treadmill. It means that you can go up to running speeds of 19km/h and quickly change inclines mid-workout from 0-12% at the touch of a button. This motor also boasts that it has reduced vibration and is also self-cooling, something I haven’t really noticed yet!

With the range of power levels, you can really challenge yourself on this NordicTrack treadmill and push yourself to hit those workout goals. There is a display screen that gives you your workout feedback- all expected metrics like calories, time, distance, and so on, but the biggest selling point from NordicTrack’s perspective is the 30-day free iFit trial.

With iFit you can get over 12k on-demand workouts, personal trainers, your own stats tracking and lots more, and it is a great way to improve performance and keep you motivated. But the downside is after the month’s trial, you have to pay for it, and it isn’t cheap. So, yes iFit is a great addition to the S25i treadmill, but if you want the full connectivity and link up with iFit, you’ll have to pay for it.

Comfort

Let’s talk about comfort on the treadmill- there is a wide 51 x 140cm running belt that feels cushioned and definitely kinder to joints when running. When you’re boiling and sweaty, there is an Autobreeze fan to cool you down, and bottle and tablet holders to keep you motivated and hydrated when you’re working out. The OneTouch controls mean that almost every setting on the treadmill can be quickly and easily changed at the touch of a button.

And when you’ve had enough of working out, you can use the EasyLift technology and space-saving design to hide it away and forget about it!

Pros

  • High running speeds
  • Easy storage
  • 12% incline
  • Wide running belt
  • 2-year parts and labour warranty

Cons

  • Need to use credit card details to get 1-month iFit free.
  • High price bracket

Final thoughts on the NordicTrack NEW S 25i Treadmill

This treadmill is a quality piece of home gym equipment and is something you wouldn’t be surprised to see at your local gym. Its technology means that it is able to hit high speeds and a good range of challenging inclines too. This treadmill will definitely allow you to hit your workout goals.

Some niggles, as with a lot of NordicTrack products, is that to get the most out of the treadmill you need to invest in the iFit membership which is expensive and not something everyone can afford after spending over a thousand pounds on a treadmill.
