First Impressions

The Sportstech F10 treadmill model 2020 is an entry-level treadmill in the Sportstech range.

The Sportstech brand pride themselves on their engineering quality, they are German after all. This high-quality engineering is present throughout this F10 treadmill, culminating in a smooth, comfortable and quiet running experience.

The ultra-silent engine means the noise when in use is kept to a minimum, something your other house guests and neighbours in close proximity will thank you for.

Sportstech also utilise a multi-layered running surface, designed for optimum comfort on your joints, and the extra-large side surfaces are a nice little safety feature, allowing you to quickly step off the treadmill if you need to take a sudden break.

Dimensions

The F10 is also designed to be practical. It has a compact design, with item dimensions of 126 x 63.5 x 24cm.

It comes with transport wheels and weighs just over 29kg (4.5 stone), meaning it’s easy to move around. The F10 is also foldable, which is great for storage.

This treadmill is designed for the beginner to intermediate runner, with a max speed of 10 km/h and 13 programmes, allowing for flexibility in your workout. Variety is the spice of life after all.

Price tag

The price tag comes in at just shy of £400, which is just slightly above average for a treadmill in this range.

If you are looking for more performance features, such as higher max speeds, then you’ll need to dig a little deeper in your pockets.

Although the price is slightly higher than competitor products out there, the appeal comes from the quality assurance you get when you buy a Sportstech treadmill. When weighing up big purchase decisions, I always think back to the old saying of ‘buy cheap and you buy twice’.

Sportstech F10 Treadmill Review

Set Up

The treadmill was quick and easy to assemble. Weighing in at just over 29kg, it was no trouble moving around, however I am used to setting up treadmills, so grabbing someone else to help is always a good idea.

It also has a compact design, measuring 126 x 63.5 x 24cm, as well as having the ability to fold, so it is great for those with limited space, however whenever you buy a treadmill or other larger pieces of gym equipment, always make sure you measure beforehand – I’ve made that mistake before!

Something to also keep in mind, is that this treadmill is produced in Germany, so make sure you have a UK plug adaptor to hand!

Performance

The Sportstech F10 is very much a starter machine, looking to target the entry-level market. With this in mind, the machine isn’t as sturdy as higher priced treadmills out there.

If you’re looking for a running experience, which mimics gym quality treadmills, then you’ll definitely need to up your price range.

With that being said, the Sportstech F10 is a decent treadmill for the price you’re paying and offers an easy-to-use, fuss free running experience.

Thanks to the high-quality structure and the use of 100% copper, the engine’s lifespan is increased and results in very little noise.

The Sportstech F10 also comes with a multi-layered running surface, ideal for reducing the wear and tear on your joints, something I am very grateful for as I get older!

The max speed is 10km/h, which is around average for treadmills in this market, however this might not be enough for more experienced runners, so think about what you really need from a treadmill.

This treadmill is great for walkers or runners just starting out. The F10 also comes with extra-large side surfaces, a nice little safety feature, where if you need to quickly step off the treadmill for whatever reason, you can simply stand on the side.

Features

The Sportstech F10 treadmill comes with 13 different programs, ideal for mixing up your workouts and keeping your exercise flexible.

It also comes with an LCD display with a snazzy blue backlight, showing all the key metrics such as time, distance, speed, distance, speed, calories and pulse.

Another training feature I really like is the ability the treadmill has to connect with apps via the console.

This is great if you would like to track your progress, find running tips and also allows you to engage more with your workouts, which I always find key to keeping a successful routine going.

Pros

  • High quality engineering
  • Quiet when in-use
  • Cushioned surface
  • LCD display
  • 13 programs
  • 10km/h max speed
  • Practical for storage
  • App connection capability

Cons

  • Slightly above the average priced treadmill in this category
  • You may need to have a UK plug adaptor as it is produced in Germany (check spec page)

How does the Sportstech F10 compare to the Nero Sports Foldable treadmill?

Both of these treadmills target the start-up runner market and are comparable in price – both available at just under £400.

Both offer very similar performance and features too, with the Sportstech F10 having one more program at 13 compared to the Nero’s 12 and both have a max speed limit of 10 km/h. The similarities also continue in terms of set up, where they both are compact and foldable, although the Nero is slightly lighter at 24kg compared to F10’s 29kg.

The Nero also has a slightly higher max user weight at 150kg compared to 120kg, so think about if this will be an issue for you.

Both treadmills feel very similar when in use, although I did find the Sportstech F10 was slightly quieter, as well as felt more cushioned under foot, however the Nero is a slightly larger machine and gave off the impression of being more sturdy.

If you are looking at a treadmill for around this price, you can’t go too far wrong with either of these treadmills, although the slightly more comfortable running surface on the Sportstech F10 might favour the less-seasoned runner.

Final thoughts on the Sportstech F10 treadmill Model 2020

This treadmill ticks all the boxes of what you could want from a treadmill when you’re starting out on your at-home running journey.

Well designed, with great engineering quality results in an easy-to-use treadmill and a comfortable running experience. The price tag is just above average for this area of the market, although I think it’s reasonable considering you the extra features you get with it.

Whether or not this treadmill is for you boils down to what you want out of a piece of home workout equipment.

If your answer is a fuss-free running experience, which doesn’t take up too much space, then the Sportstech F10 treadmill is seriously worth considering.
