First impressions of the Sport24 Folding Exercise Bike

Designed to be a fuss-free workout solution for exercising at home, whilst not putting too much strain on your purse strings, the Sport24 is a solid addition to the entry-level area of the at-home exercise bike market.

The Sport24 foldable exercise bike is also designed to be convenient, where it can easily fold for storage and only weighs 19kg (just under 3 stone), meaning it can be easily transported.

It’s easy to assemble, quiet in use and overall offers a comfortable riding experience through the adjustable seat, and has a built-in backrest.

The performance features are limited, with only 8 resistance levels and no ready to go workout programmes, so this exercise bike might not appeal to the more experienced rider who are looking for a high spec exercise bike.

Setup and Storage

Weighing in at 19kg, the Sport24 foldable exercise bike is lightweight and compact.

It comes with easy-to-use instructions, where step-by-step guidance is illustrated through diagrams. Overall, this exercise bike is one of the less complicated to assemble, where assembly should only take around 30 to 40 minutes.

If you’d rather not spend the time assembling the bike, via Amazon services, you can pay £67 to have the bike assembled when it’s delivered.

I’m not sure I would pay that to have this done (as this bike is relatively easy to assemble) but might be useful for others.

Once put together, one of the main benefits of the Sport24 is how it can easily fold for storage, which minimises the amount of space required, something which is especially useful if you are tight on space.

A hinge in the middle of the bike makes this easy to do, where you can simply pull apart or push together.

Price

The Sport24 foldable exercise bike will set you back around £120, placing it on the cheaper end of the at-home exercise bike spectrum.

You get decent value for money at this price tag, where the Sport24 ticks all the core components of what you would need from an at-home exercise bike. However, if you are looking for higher performance features, then you will need to have a bigger budget.

Features

The exercise bike uses a frictionless 2.5kg magnetic internal flywheel; providing a smoother and quieter ride than traditional exercise bike, which is great if you live close, or share with others.

The bike uses an adjustable magnetic resistance mechanism with 8 different levels of resistance.

These levels don’t differ too much, and I would have liked the max resistance to be slightly tougher. This is a slight drawback to this bike and users who are really looking to push themselves at higher intensities may find the Sport24 a bit lacking. That being said, this bike should be more than enough for beginners and I was still able to work up a sweat.

Another downside to this bike is that there are no in-built programmes. This is a feature typically found in more expensive bikes, so if this something that would appeal to you, then you’ll need to look for higher spec bikes.

Like most at-home exercise bikes, the Sport 24 foldable exercise bike, the LCD display tracks distance, speed, time and calories, which enables you to manage your workout.

This is quite a basic design but is easy to use and read. There isn’t a pulse sensor, so if you wanted to measure your heart rate, then make sure you’ve got your SMART watch on!

Design

The Sport24 foldable exercise bike comes with an adjustable seat, which is padded for extra comfort, as well as coming with a backrest (which can also be folded down).

This is a feature I like, as this can provide extra support for your lower back. There is also a generous maximum user weight of 120kg, which means the bike is suitable for a variety of users.

Despite the very lightweight design of the bike, it still felt stable when riding for the most part, although at higher speeds it did rock slightly.

Thanks to the magnetic resistance system the pedal motion still felt smooth throughout and overall was a comfortable riding experience. I also liked the anti-slip pedals and straps too, helping the ride feel more sturdy!

The dimensions of the Foldable SPORT24 bike when assembled is: H115 x W97 x D51cm and when folded down measures at 115 x 45cm.

Pros

  • Lightweight at 19KG
  • 8 resistance levels
  • Foldable
  • Comfortable and adjustable seat and backrest
  • 5kg flywheel (heavy for a foldable bike)
  • Easy to assemble and transport
  • LCD Display giving key feedback
  • Max user weight 120kgs (Nearly 19 stone)

Cons

  • Lack of user programmes
  • Limited resistance levels
  • No pulse sensor

How does the Sport24 Foldable compare to the Opti Folding Exercise Bike?

Both of these bikes are aimed at a similar target market, designed to be a great space saving solution for easy and efficient at-home exercising. Both offer varying levels of resistance, a basic LCD display and both are compact and have the ability to fold for storage.

Where the Sport24 foldable exercise bike out does the Opti Folding Magnetic Exercise Bike is through the superior build quality. Weighing in at 6kg more, as well as having a heavier flywheel (2.5kg vs 1.6kg), the Sport24 has a much sturdier and robust build quality, which reduces wobble and provides a smoother riding feel. This also means the Sport24 is capable of having a max user weight of 120kg, which is 20kg higher than the Opti.

Saying that the Opti bike does have a pulse sensor, which the Sport24 does not, so maybe a consideration depending how important that is to your workout regime.

This slightly better build quality and robustness does come at £20 more than the Opti, but for me this is a very worthwhile investment.

Final thoughts on the Sport24 Foldable Exercise Bike

The Sport24 Foldable exercise bike does exactly what it says on the tin.

This bike met all of my expectations and the extra weight in the bike made the ride quality a lot better than other lightweight bikes on the market that I’ve tried.

Despite this extra weight, the bike was still easy to assemble and transport, as well as having a compact design, which was ideal for space saving.

I also really liked the foldable backrest, which is something missing from other folding bikes and very important for posture and comfort.

Overall the features are limited, but if you are just looking for an easy solution to at-home exercising, something that is fuss-free, reliable, and not too expensive, then I would highly recommend investing in the Sport24 foldable exercise bike.
