First impressions

This piece of equipment is an all-rounder- it is perfect to help you with your fitness regime with both the option to use as a cross trainer or an exercise bike. It is low impact, so you can burn those calories without worrying about hurting your joints.

And for me, best of all, it adds variety to your at home workouts- so you don’t get bored. This Roger Black 2 in 1 exercise bike and cross trainer comes in a sleek silver design with a 6kg flywheel, a string frame, large footing pedals, and an LCD screen on the front.

So you can track your progress and set your own fitness challenges in the comfort of your own home!

Detailed review of the Roger Black 2 in 1 Exercise Bike and Cross Trainer

Set up

The machine is fairly easy to assemble. The main base frame comes assembled, but all the smaller parts then have to be attached on. For ease, all the parts are numbered in the instructions and tools are provided.

The digital display just needs 2 AA batteries and needs to be programmed. There are also transportation wheels to allow you to move the equipment easily.

There is a clear instruction manual to show you how to do all these things, and also comes with guidance on exercises you can do and the best way to use the machine. You can see the full assembly instruction manual here.

Performance

As the name suggests, this equipment is usable for two purposes: as a cross trainer or an exercise bike. With a high resistance from the handles and the pedals, the machine offers a full body workout when you use it as a cross trainer.

And when you want to mix it up a bit, the 6kg flywheel gives you a fair amount of resistance and allows you to really push that leg workout.

You can also track your workout and measure your goals with the LCD screen and hand sensor- where you will be told your time, speed, pulse, calories and distance. This is a popular feature with many users.

Comfort

Despite being two pieces of equipment in one, Roger Black have done their part in making the equipment comfortable and usable. With an adjustable seat, it is easy to select the desired height and sit on the bike.

The LCD screen comes with essential programs that are easy to understand and set up in line with your desired work out activity. One point to mention is that if you’re using the bike, there aren’t any pedals and what you use are long footings to pedal.

Cost Vs. Quality

Let’s be honest, for the amateur home workout, we probably don’t want to have lots of exercise machines in our home- that’s what we use the gym for. But the Roger Black 2 in 1 has thought this through, by providing two machines for the price of one.

It is a very competitively priced piece of equipment that would suit most budgets and offers you excellent and efficient results that will help you burn calories and lose weight- whatever level of cardio you’re after.

From all the product reviews it’s clear that the quality of the equipment is not compromised by being two separate machines and despite being lower in cost vs other similar machines, is very solid and study.

How does the Roger Black 2 in 1 Exercise Bike and Cross Trainer compare with the Opti 2 in 1 Cross Trainer and Exercise Bike?

Looking at similar products on the market, we compared the Roger Black vs the Opti 2 in 1 machines.

There are similar features on both, with the LCD displays giving you workout feedback, however the Opti gives you speed, distance and calories, but the Roger Black gives a more personalised experience with the pulse sensors to give more accurate readings.

They both have wide footings for both workouts, but the Opti only has an 11 inch stride length vs Roger Blacks 26 inches. The flywheel again is more superior on the Roger Black with a 6kg flywheel vs 1.9kg.

Both machines will get the job done and give you the varied cardio workout you’re after, but comparing the 2 brands, for a little bit more money, we think the Roger Black is far superior in features. You can read our full review on the Opti 2 in 1 machine here.

Final thoughts on the Roger Black Gold Exercise Bike

We like this piece of equipment. A lot. It is a powerful exercise bike and a sturdy cross trainer- and the best thing, it’s in one piece of equipment- saving money and space! It is suitable for all abilities and allows you to set and track your own goals with the sensors and unit display. And at the cheaper end of the market, you’re not paying much for a piece of quality fitness equipment.

With spending more time at home than ever before, it’s also nice to mix up your workouts which will give you the motivation to keep things fresh and push yourself that little bit harder!
