The Lowdown
Quite possibly the cheapest multi set of weights in the UK, and for the cost of £30 or less. The product description is right, ‘the perfect start to your fitness journey’. For those who are new to lifting weights, or may want to build tone via high repetitions of lower weights, then this seems like an ideal purchase.

First Impressions
Packaged in a cardboard box with the usual annoying plastic cable that runs around the box that can only be cut with a good set of scissors, all the weights and stand were soon unboxed.
Only the stand required any assembly and 5 minutes later and a few screws, we were all set up and complete. The weights sat nicely on the stand, and they felt quite good to pick up. Yes, there were a few rough parts where they had attached the two section of plastic together, but it was barely noticeable.

Pros
- Excellent value for money
- Stand is included
- Good for those who are new to weights
Cons
- Not exact weight measurements
- Slight join marks on all weights
Opti Dumbbell Tree Set Review:
Looking at the fine details:
Firstly, it’s important to stress if these weights are right for you. They come in 3 variations, 2 x 1.1Kg, 2 x 2.3kg and 2 x 4.5kg. The materials used to construct the weights are latex free vinyl and as you can see from the above are not your typical rounded weights. I can only assume that the wight of the vinyl material and sand placed into them causes the odd measurements.
They felt good in the hand and were not too bulky, unlike some vinyl alternatives that are much bigger. We would always advise wearing a pair of weight lifting gloves for any workout as it will protect your hands while in use.

Is this right for you?
If you are new to lifting weights, looking to tone rather than bulk, or are we are increasingly seeing more elderly lifting weights as part of their daily routine, then these would be suitable for your needs.
Unlike the Opti barbell set, I would not advise young people starting with this set as it does not give you the flexibility to continue to add weight, and they are of course fixed sizes. You cannot simply add on further weights like other dumbbell sets.
Major benefits of this set are that if you are following along to a cardio session with low intensity weights (which are becoming increasingly popular). You have the ability to quickly swap to a set of 2.3kg weights to perform lateral raisers and swap to heavier 4.5kg weights for bent over pull-ups, for example.
Features we really liked:
Feel sold in the hand
Can quickly swap weights on the stand
Incredible value for money
Final thoughts on the Opti Dumbbell Tree Set
Before purchasing this set, you need to ask yourself what your workout goals are and how they will be used. Remember, being fit isn’t always about how much weight you can lift, many exceptionally fit people perform entire workouts simply using their own body weight.
Additional benefits are that this set is very cheap, you are getting a lot for your money. If you do outgrow these weights, then they can always be used, as I have highlighted above, to add additional weight to high repetition/low weight workouts.
It’s a difficult one to score, if you are looking to bulk, you may find this set of weights too light for your needs. As for those who are specifically wanting this setup, they are one of the best on the market when looking at price to performance.
