The Lowdown

The EXP 10i is one of the latest treadmills from NordicTrack. The treadmill offers many of the features found in NordicTrack’s commercial treadmills. It has a touchscreen and a cushioned running surface.

First Impressions

First impressions of the NordicTrack EXP 10i are good. Stats appearing on the touchscreen are easy to read when exercising. At 51cm x 152cm, the running belt is generous when it comes to both width and length for the average runner. FlexSelect cushioning has been added to make running and exercising on the treadmill more comfortable, too.

The handlebars are in the right position to allow for arm movement. The 12% incline is an advantage when you would like to work a bit harder. Once unpacked, the EXP 10i gives the impression of being a sturdy and well-built treadmill. Overall product dimensions are L180cm x W99cm x H151cm when in use. When not in use, it folds downs to L110cm x W 99cm x H181xcm.

Pros

  • Wireless Connectivity
  • Automated controls
  • 3.5 hp motor allowing speeds up to 22kph
  • 12% incline
  • Maximum weight capacity 136kg

Cons

  • Weighs in at 95kg making it heavy to move around
  • Bulky when folded and stored away
  • FFoldup Assist can be awkward.

NordicTrack EXP 10i Treadmill Review

Set-Up:

NordicTrack EXP 10i comes with clear instructions on how to set it up and get started. You do have to assemble some fiddly bits, and it’s quite heavy, so two people will be needed to set it up. And make sure you assemble it in the room you’re using it in, as it’ll be tricky to move around far/upstairs etc.

The treadmill relies on a power input so you need to make sure you are close to a wall socket and WiFi.

Performance:

The cushioned track is a great idea. But, bearing in mind most trainers are cushioned, you may experience a slight “bouncing.” Overall, the treadmill performs well when it comes to its incline and decline function. When using iFit programs, the process of the incline and decline is automated. Having a decline in a treadmill is unusual.

When you take part in one of the hiking workouts, having a -3% decline makes a real difference to your workout. It also means you can target lower body strength and simulate a more outdoor downhill running experience.

There is plenty of room for walking, running, and hiking on this treadmill. You can also take part in many of the iFit programs offered by NordicTrack. When in motion, the performance is smooth and there is no “jerkiness” when you change the incline.

The professional-sized motor makes the treadmill feel steady and powerful. The track feels like it works with you.

Comfort:

The cushioned feel of the track makes the treadmill comfortable for exercising for an extended period of time. Some may experience the track as too cushioned. This depends on your choice of running shoes or trainers. The track is designed to absorb motion and impact. When running fast or sprinting, you may experience the track as slightly short.

Reading the display on the touchscreen is easy to do once the treadmill is in motion. You can use a heart-rate monitor which has been added to the horizontal grips if you would like to track your heart rate.

Walking or running hands-free on the EXP 10i Treadmill is more comfortable than holding onto the bars.

There is no doubt the NordicTrack EXP 10i comes with a lot of technical innovations. One of the main benefits is the iFit program. One month is included for free. After the first 30 days, you need to take out a subscription.

The iFit class program is not only about running. Although running and jogging remain components, you can also select walking and hiking programs.
iFit programmes also allow for 5 different users in the home. This is a bonus when there are multiple users of the treadmill in your house.

It is also worth mentioning the treadmill features Bluetooth speakers. Great for listening to your favourite tunes when exercising.

Things we really liked:

The iFit program is very much part of what sells this treadmill. It offers a great range of classes and exercise choices.

The motor is powerful allowing for flexibility when it comes to weight capacity and providing you use indoor running shoes, the cushioned track makes the exercise experience comfortable.

% Decline is unusual on a home treadmill, but a great feature for a more varied workout.

Final thoughts on the NordicTrack EXP 10i Treadmill

The NordicTrack EXP 10i is a high-quality treadmill offering good value for money when it comes to home use. It has the feel of a professional treadmill that you will find in the gym. The track could perhaps be a bit longer but is perfectly adequate unless you do a lot of sprinting.

The decline option is also a big differentiator as very few home treadmills offer this feature.
