First Impressions

This bike is an impressive piece of kit. It has a very sturdy 20kg flywheel to give you that challenging workout, and along with the magnetic resistance and 7 function monitor, you will be able to really push those home workout goals.

It has a slick design and would suit any home, as long as you have the space.

At 131 x 51 x 112cm, you will need to find a permanent place to store this bike, but the good news is, unlike some other JLL models, the belt drive system and magnetic resistance means your workout should be a relatively quiet one.

And the best thing, this bike is actually in stock.…Phew!

Detailed review of the JLL IC300 PRO Indoor Cycling Exercise Bike

Setup

This bike is pretty straightforward to set up, with the user manual and the occasional check on a YouTube video, it didn’t take too long.

The box is obviously quite heavy and bulky, so it’s recommended that you don’t start assembly until everything is in the room you’re planning to have the bike in.

And get someone to help, if you’re carrying up the stairs. If you do need to move it around once up, it does have wheels which is helpful.

Riding Experience

As we’ve already mentioned, this JLL indoor exercise bike has a magnetic resistance system which basically means that a magnetic is fitted close to the flywheel and there is a knob which you can adjust based on the type of intensity you need.

The closer the magnet is to the flywheel, the harder the resistance will be- which is a great feature to use if you’re looking to mix up your workout!

This bike also uses a belt instead of a chain, to transfer the power from the pedals to the flywheel.

This means there are a few positives, like being a smoother ride, and also less likely to have problems (like a chain can break or need oil etc). Many users also say it makes a lot let noise too, which could be a consideration for you.

If you were thinking about a chain driven bike that might give you a more accurate simulation of being on an outdoor bike, then you might want to consider the JLL IC300 Indoor Exercise Bike 2021.

Display

There is a good size LCD display that comes on the JLL IC300 PRO, it’s not up to gym standards, but will definitely fit the bill to accurately measure your home workout goals.

Or like most people do now, you can use a bit of both, and track some things on the bike, and other key metrics using your Smart Watch.

On the screen you can monitor all the expected things like time, speed, distance, calories, RPM etc and there are also sensors on the handle bars so you can check your pulse too.

There are 4 buttons on the display that give you lots of information:

RESET: To start again and cancel existing readings back to “0”.
SET: To set your individual programmes and targets.
RECOVERY: To measure your fitness at the end of the session- a one minute countdown to measure your heart rate and let you know your fitness rating.
MODE: To switch between different metrics.

And don’t worry, batteries are included with the machine

Comfort

This bike is made to suit you. The manufacturer’s recommended max user weight for the JLL IC300 PRO is Just over 20 stone (130kgs), so it is suitable for a wide range of weights.

The handlebars have 6 adjustment levels and you can move the seat any way you want to, with the 6 horizontal and 10 vertical level options. This bike is really made to suit all shapes and sizes to make sure you get the workout you need.

The saddle is covered with soft fabric and padded foam, however some users have commented that they bought a gel overlay to make it even more comfortable.

That’s something to consider if you are planning to spend a lot of time working those legs!

The 3 piece crack system on the pedals gives you a stronger and smoother ride (just like you were cycling on the open road), and when you’re thirstly just reach for the aluminium bottle in its’ holder, which comes with the bike. What more do you need?!

Pros

  • 20kg flywheel
  • 7 feedback metrics from display.
  • Pulse sensor plates.
  • Fabric cycling saddle for comfort.
  • Aluminium bottle comes in secured bracket on bike.
  • Wheels for easy transportation.
  • 130kgs max user weight.
  • Magnetic resistance and belt driven flywheel means very little noise.
  • 12 months home use warranty.

Cons

  • Non-foldable.
  • Quite heavy at 45kgs.
  • Some users say the pulse monitor isn’t always accurate.

How does the JLL IC300 PRO compare to the Argos Pro Fitness Exercise Bike Range?

With many of us being forced to work out from home, there are a lot of bikes on the market to choose from- and it’s hard to know which one is best for you.

The JLL range is primarily available on Amazon, but what about other retailers out there? Argos have recently launched their range of Pro Fitness Exercise bikes.

They all retail for under £300, but lets look at their top range one, the Pro Fitness EB3000 Exercise Bike. This has an electronic resistance system vs the JLL Magnetic one. It means you can change resistance at the touch of a button but may not give you as much of a challenge as the Magnetic outputs.

The Displays look similar and if anything, the Pro Fitness one, with it’s blue backlit LCD display, looks a bit fancier! It does also have some pre-set programmes which are useful if you are relatively new to bike cardio.

The biggest differences between the Pro Fitness and the JLL IC300 PRO is the flywheel. We have a 9kg vs the JLL 20kg, which is over double the weight.

This not only means the JLL will give you a more solid and harder workout, but also means that there is room for a heavier max with on the JLL (120kg vs 130kg). The JLL also has more ability to adjust handlebars and seat settings, to give you a more comfortable ride. But it is over £100 more.

Still not sure? You can read more about the Pro Fitness Exercise Bikes here.

Final thoughts on the JLL IC300 PRO Indoor Cycling Exercise Bike

This is a great bike for indoor training. It has a very strong and sturdy base that is solid to the floor and won’t move even when you’re getting in a real challenging spin! The heavy flywheel and the resistance settings means this bike can be a tough workout for even the most experienced home cyclist. And you can monitor your progress with the LCD display unit which gives you all the information you could need.

Let’s be honest, if we had a spare couple of grand we might opt for a specialist spin bike that we like to use in the gym, but as home fitness machines go, for the price, you get quality features and a solid piece of equipment that will give you an intense workout, whatever level of cardio you want.

And the best thing, it looks very snazzy, which, seeing as you can’t fold it away out of sight, is another reason we can’t get enough of this bike!
